Veridal the Unending had been banished from the realm. The heroic mercenary company known as The Steel-Talons fought a brutal battle at the Awakening Gates. They lost many of their number in this effort, but saved the world from untold destruction in their effort. Not satisfied, some of the surviving Talons built their new headquarters over the Awakening Gates naming it after the companies original captain. Purpose / Function

The fort currenty serves as the Steel-Talon's primary base of operation. The company uses it as thier traning grounds, barracks, and launching point. It was origonally built to defend against extra demensional threats, but soon became the de-facto poltical center of the region.

The Talons, provide a majority of the regions security, repelling Veren mercenary companies, roving bandit lords, or wayward north men from the nearby region. Due to the local economies dependence on the company the local villages pledge their allegiance to the Talon's rather than their former lords.

Alterations

The fort has had three major expansions in its four decades of existence. The first, was the construction of checkpoints in the passes of the circling mountains. The second was extending housing, and farming regions outside of their fortifications in the valley proper, and the final was an extension of the fortresses defensive layers.

History

The fort was constructed in the wake of Veridal the Unending's defeat. It began as a modest hill fort, but slowly expanded to the impressive fortification it is today. Over the course of its existence it has been a primary stronghold against the aggression of the Veren empire, and northern raiders.
The fortifcation recently made history again during the Great Mercantile Disruption. Vorrick Skull-crusher, otherwise known as old man Vorrick, one to the two remaining hero of the original company led the Talons in the defense of the Northward shipping company from Veren noble troops. The company has since been engaged in the Disruption, defending their land from greedy Veren eyes.
