The Child
Summary
The malevolent specter was once said to be joyous child. Sadly his life ended in misery. as the increasingly violent war between the then cult of Invictus and worshipers of the old ways found its way to his home before the then cult of Invictus razed his home to the ground. The patron god of the desecrated city that is bound to the cursed city of pagans pass. The child, allegedly has two forms. The first one being the appearance of a child with smoldering skin. The few written records of the child indicate that it can be found crying in this docile form. It often would lure in unsuspecting victims, before shifting to the second form.
The second form is often describe as uncomfortably tall, gangling ,and on fire. In this form, the child has access to a wide range of magical attacks.
The child was sent by his jealous god to seek vengeance for the actions of the cult. For 4 years he hunted down all involved of the sack of Pagan's Pass. Thousands perished in his wake.
However, Invictus did not take kindly to the wholesale slaughter of his worshipers, but was too busy with waging the war of heavenly succession. with The crusaders dying he lost power by the day. Eventually, <Deity> attacked Invictus severing his hand from his body. while <Deity> supposedly died, she used the remainder of her power to hide the god's hand in Pagan's Pass, and ward it against Invictius's presences. As an added security measure she left the tormented specter to ensure mortals would not stumble upon the holy relic.
Spread
While the majority of the myth was spread through the teachings of Invictus, many of the legends stem from witnesses too the Child's revenge. The Child quickly became a common boogeyman for the Veren people. Almost every Veren citizen has heard on version or another of the myth, but the telling varies widly.
