The Young Gods

While the gods of Faerun are worshipped in Mystas as well as the many other pantheons, they are often referred to as the "Old Gods". In Mystas and Dominion especially, the fair races worship new gods, often called the Young Gods. Those touched by the Veil itself who emerged unscathed and gained ruthless and unbelievable power. While many are dead and gone, some believe that as the Veil touches the Material Plain, that the Young Gods die and return to the source of their power, watching over and blessing us from the source of all magic itself.

The Young Gods: Who are they?

Those touched by the Veil who ascended to godhood and mastered the raw power of magic itself. These beings for good or ill serve Mystas and always have since the Veil Pierced the Realm. While most are worshipped for fear and torment or for great noble deeds, the Young Gods are worshipped all the same.

The Ascended

The Ascended were once called the "Children of the Veil" born or shaped by incredible magical power, but unguided by it. The Ascended were mortals who received the gift of agelessness, great magical power and often times a cruel temperament. Many rose to become the leaders of Mystas, conquering untamed lands and establishing great civilizations that still exist to this day. Others were driven to darker deeds, bending the will of the other plains of existence, desecrating lands, and comitting acts of genocide.   Notable Ascended:
Yaros Ascended god of Fire. Hailed for both horrible and great deeds. Considered an icon of Balance.
Theyda Worshipped by Druids, Theyda was a hunter who devoted her life and power to the forests of Mystas.

The Keepers Of Mystas

The keepers of Mystas were once Ascended who fought for nothing, as was the norm long ago. Then under the guidance of Their leader Voltas the wanderer, formed an alliance for the greater good. It was formed to battle the Menacing Rahgot Zia who sought dominion over death itself. His power was so great that it took the organization of many Ascended to bring his reign of terror to an end. Once Rahgot Zia was defeated the order was shortly after ended by Batsuura, who had stolen the power of the hells itself. However as the Keepers fell so did she, and their sacrifice was hailed in legend forever. The keepers are the Pantheon of Order, Justice and Righteous deed and they are worshipped by every kingdom across Mystas as the truest heroes of all.
Voltas - The Wanderer Former Ascended and founder of the Keepers of Mystas. Also called the Wanderer. Hailed as Bane of Evil and the God of Righteous Authority.
Urda - Lady of the Wild The Tiefling wife of Voltas and Second in command of the Keepers. Her powers were chaotic and untamed as nature itself.
Maxis - The Warmaster A Goliath Barbarian of unrivaled skill. Maxis was the master of weapons, both making and wielding.
Odai - The Mindful An Elven Sorcerer who was known to read thoughts and control the minds of others. Also the wisest of the Keepers.
Artolis - The Radiant A human Paladin who was said to control the power of the sun itself. Hailed as a saint and enemy of the undead.
Drakar - The Shadow A Dragonborn known for his stealth and mastery of Fire. Often called Oath Breaker, he betrayed the keepers and became a Dracolich.
Eldamo - The Architect A crafty gnome whose great inventions are still used to this day. He is said to be why there are so many magic items in Mystas.

Other Patrons of Dominion

Elrich The Unending

Elrich Flamesong was a man of ordinary upbringing who grew up during the Dragon War in Dominion. He became a warrior after recieving a mythical weapon known as the sword of chance after seeing a vision of Maxis the warmaster. With this fabled blade in hand, he conquered all of Dominion in the name of the human race, and ended the war with the Draconians, striking a simple peace accord at the turn of the age. With the land united, he founded the city of Elrichshire in Central Dominion. However soon after becoming royalty, he grew tired of his throne and longed for a new adventure. Spited by the Draconians for taking the name of King in the land of their Godking, Elrich journeyed to Dragonstone to confront Apotheus, the true ruler of Dominion and King of all Dragons. Apothus denied Elrich's title and wiped out his entire army with a single breath. Sparing Elrich he allowed the king of men to leave and Elrich did so. The story goes that months later Elrichshire was burned to the ground by a great Dragon who many believe to be Apothus himself. Elrich and his family were killed in the inferno and the Second Dragon War began between the Humans and Draconians. Elrich ascended to Godhood and was believed to be an Ascended himself, though no evidence of that exists. Many believe his magical sword was the source of all of his power. To this day men fight and die in his name and to avenge their king and country.

Apothus: King of the Dragons

One half the color of hellfire, the other a blue and warped arcane light, He stands the size of a mountain. His breath is Molten and is said to have shaped the land itself. In Draconic the land he rules is called "Domi Di Darastrixi" which means the Dominion of Dragons. It is his Dominion and he is their king. Originally the Dragons hailed from an island the humans named Dracovia. It was ruled over by lesser dragons who fought and died for scraps as they starved on their island or risked death at the hands of those on mainland Mystas and their weapons of war. When Apothus created his Dominion from his own firey breath, the dragons of Dracovia crossed the oceans and challenged him for the right to rule it. After their defeat, Apothus offered his kin the freedom of his Dominion, so long as none challenged his rule, they could live in peace and prosperity in his haven for those of scale and fire. Those who agreed, came to Dominion and it became the a Haven for dragons. Those who refused returned to Dracovia and according to Draconian legend, seven days later it was visited by Apothus who sank Dracovia into the sea. The lesser races named him their Godking, and Apothus remained king for seven eras of war and invasion. He is extremely strange amongst his kin as his unnatural appearance, size and ruthlessness make him a force beyond that of any dragon. Many believe he is a product of the Veil, or a being who escaped another plain of existence entirely. Some believe he may himself be an Ascended warped by the Veil's wicked power, but none have come close enough to Dragonstone to search for Ridden lands. All that is known is that no one approaches the throne of the Godking and lives, not even the Draconians.
