Flannel shirts, grunge rock, hip hop, coffee, multiculturalism, alternative media, and a booming economy and technology industry are the order of the day. A few short years ago the Cold War ended with a whimper rather than the expected bang as the Soviet Union dissolved. The Iraq and Afghanistan War drag on and President Trump was ushered into office on a platform of Conservatism and Demagoguery. Seattle is on the rise both nationally and internationally as both a cultural and business center. A number of major corporations are headquartered in the greater Seattle area, such as Boeing, Microsoft, and Amazon, not to mention the coffee giant Starbucks. In the last few decades, multiple skyscrapers have been erected and gentrification is pushing out most of the city’s original residents to the surrounding suburbs. Meanwhile, the children of the nineties, the so-called Generation X, are dubbed the middle children of history and written off by the media leading to a malaise of apathy and angst in youth culture. Even worse, the Millennials are seen as lazy, unappreciative, spoiled, careless, and are generally misunderstood, leading to an even greater divide between the generations and conflict in the industrial machine that just doesn’t understand the incoming workforce. For the Kindred, Seattle was once a sterling example of the Anarch community but has since come under contest. In the late sixties, riding on a wave of labor union victories and cultural revolution, Anarchs controlled Seattle by preventing the Camarilla from gaining a foothold. Anarchs, in fact, still represent the greatest population of vampires within the city proper. Despite this advantage of numbers, the rapid reconstruction and expansion following Mt. Saint Helens, rise of the technology industry, and vested corporate interests in the Puget Sound area gave the Camarilla the necessary leverage for control. The Anarchs are now forced to pay lip service to Ivory Tower’s hierarchy and policies while scheming to eject them from their city. But the Camarilla’s hold is tenuous at best, as where they go in these Final Nights the Sabbat are never far behind. Sabbat packs have been spotted terrorizing the territory, threatening to encroach on both factions. Across the water, Kitsap County harbors some of the most destructive forces ever created in this world of darkness. The military builds and maintains weapons of destruction, including those most feared, the nuclear missile armed submarines. These powerful weapons create and attract even more powerful spirits such as Nuclear Elementals, Balefire Banes, and other, more hideous and terrifying creatures. The Gangrel that once protected Seattle from the spreading wyrm taint of Bremerton have since left to join the fight against the supposedly rising Antediluvians in the middle east, leaving Bremerton a warzone between the Sabbat and Camarilla; both vying for control of the port city. The Lupines of the Olympics fight an ever increasingly difficult battle against both a rising vampire population and wyrm corruption from the three military bases located in Kitsap, the Bangor Trident Submarine Base, the Bremerton Naval Shipyard, and the sinister and mysterious research facility, the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Keyport.
