Grissholm

The regional capital of Grissa territory, a major port for the Kingdom of Eloir, and home of the regional Lord and their family.   It addition to serving as a major naval and trading port, Grissholm also serves as the main port for sailing to the Lotus Archipelago.

Demographics

The port town has a strong human majority with one of largest beastkin minorities found within a mainland settlement, reflecting its place in both the kingdom and its proximity to the Lotus Archipelago.

Government

Grissholm is the home of House Grissa, making it the civil center for the region in addition to economic.   It is also the overall source of governance over the Lotus Archipelago as the islands fall under the region's jurisdiction. While the local governor is charged with handling day-to-day operations of the islands, Lord Grissa still holds authority over matters such as taxation and military resources.

Industry & Trade

Grissholm is predominantly a mercantile city built up by its port and access to major trading routes.

Districts

Northern Port: A section of port reserved for mercantile and private vessels. Located close to the market and entertainment districts.   Southern Port: A section of port reserved for naval and diplomatic vessels. Includes barracks for sailors and shipwrights under the command of the Elorite military.   Market: Home to merchants, grocers, and craftsmen selling their wares.   Entertainment: Theatre houses, cafes, etc.   Upper Residential: Home to affluent members of society including members of House Grissa and high-tier merchants.   Lower Residential: Middle and working class citizens live here. It also includes the slums, where most of the local beastkin population can be found.

Tourism

Grissholm has one of the highest concentrations of beastkin found in the region's mainland territories. As such, visitors to the city have been known to seek out the slums to get their first glimpse of the beast-folk.
