Lindrake
Found primarily within The Scar, lindrakes are curious creatures who have managed to survive in one of the least hospitable regions in Dormelia.
They are a fear and very real danger to those willing to travel into the Scar with numerous souls unfortunate enough to have wandered into their territory only to learn what a crystal-eating creature's jaw can do to a human limb.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Lindrakes are quadrupedal creatures comparative in size to medium sized dog. Their bodies appear almost emaciated, with dark grey scales shimmering with a slight blue sheen. Claws adorn each foot, ready to dig or attack when needed.
Ecology and Habitats
The Scar is oddly the only known region where lindrakes reside despite the locale infamously not having the resources to sustain any other mammals.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Lindrakes are omnivores... to a surprising degree. In addition to foraging for what little vegetation grows in the Scar and even fewer animal of prey wander in, accounts regarding the creatures depict them eating the crystals found within the Scar's numerous caverns. Scholars theorize that the lindrakes are somehow able to break down the crystal during digestion and convert the magical energy inside into biological fuel for their bodies.
Behaviour
Based on the handful of accounts of people who have managed to get close to the animal, a single word that could be used to describe them would be "nasty".
Reported to be territorial, ill-tempered, and violent to any and all it perceives as invaders to its domain, lindrakes have a reputation for inspiring fear as much as they might curiosity, if not more.
Additional Information
Domestication
There have been the occasional attempts made to capture and train lindrakes by rather hopeful and categorically ill-advised travels to the Scar to assist in finding crystal deposits. None of these attempts have been confirmed successful due to the lindrakes' ferocious temperament.
Facial characteristics
Lindrakes typically have blue-ish eyes with slit pupils. They possess a narrow snout over a mouth with two rows of teeth, one sharp for tearing flesh and the other blunt for cracking crystals and bones.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
A lindrake can supposedly detect crystal deposits, sniffing them out like a bloodhounds or so the rumors say. Such an ability has yet to be widely accepted as truth given the lack of study done on the creatures.

Average Physique
At first glance, lindrakes appear almost emaciated, fitting with what one might expect for an animal that resides in a wasteland like the Scar. However, as anyone who has come away from fight with one can attest to, their appearance only belays their strength, not indicates it. Lindrakes' bodies are nearly all muscle and sinew, making them strong and lethally fast.

I can say with utmost sincerity and certainty that how the crystals affect what comes out did not occur to me.
