Uzya Bardiya

Uzya Bardiya, most often only known by his first name, is the leader of a faction of raiders known by many names. Some refer to them as the knife of Tirsa and others as the Clay Hand. It is a seafaring group that resides in the Gulwin Islands when not at work. The group though not entirely homogenous largely consists of Heffan refugees. The minority members are a collection of various marginalized groups. Uzya, a Heffan himself, first founded the group in 2482 two years following the attack on the ring. Thirty-one at the time Uzya had been living in the wilderness north of Adin for the two years following the collapse. He happened to meet a woman named Ishvat Nahir who was a refugee herself. Nahir had been married to a wealthy diplomat from the capital in Tanyam who passed away several years before the war. Nahir his sole inheritor quickly amassed an immense wealth which until meeting Uzya was little use to her. Together the two spoke at length about what had been done to their people and before long they began toying with the idea of doing something about it. There were many ideas passed around about how to do this exactly, create an independent colony, push an uprising, symbolic attack, but ultimately the two dreamed of chartering a number of ships. Together they'd lead them from Adin's harbor south to the coast where they would then head for a forgotten trio of islands now home to the Gulwin who had been forced from Heffa just the same. Together Uzya and Ishvat built a force to be reckoned with. Due to the extensive diplomatic agreements, the Heffan government pushed through on behalf of the Gulwin those that reside on their islands are safe from extradition under certain parameters. With this in mind, the Clay Hand has chosen their targets carefully. Particularly they have always avoided engaging any government property and instead have remained focused on wealthy individuals from the private sector and on commercial shipping. Though often outgunned the organization found great success utilizing its superior strategic maneuvering and capacity to engage in guerilla warfare.  The group is distinct in that a principal part of their plundering is that no goods acquired by these means are ever exchanged in the market. This is done in order to avoid implicating the Gulwin in its misconduct. Instead, the resources garnered are given by direct contribution to the island's inhabitants. Many of which are in no way involved in the organization.
