Kundeg (KOON-deg)

Overview

Large, reptilian bird like Gendirlo who live in the mountains of Dosjorya. Among the longest lived Gendirl species and tend to not be very talkative.

Characteristics

Most Kundego live in the southern half of the mountains of Dosjorya, but numerous adventurous individuals can be found every where. They are among the few Gendirlo who have visited Xazdos Volcano with any regularity.
Kundego are grey with white undersides and have smooth scales. On land they walk awkwardly on skinny legs, but in the air they fly with grace and great stamina. A furry crest rests on the top of their heads and they have sharp, black beaks. Their wings are mostly comprised of a massive thin membrane. Their bodies are developed to be highly efficient when flying, allowing them to fly long distances or at high altitudes without tiring quickly. Many individuals have reached the age of one hundred years.
Kundego will eat anything that they can fit into their relatively small beaks, though they prefer berries. Most prey caught by a Kundeg are small mice and other rodents.
Solitary in nature, Kundeg clans only have older individuals who lead and wish to live settled lives. Younger individuals, once they leave their mother's nest, rarely meet with other Kundego except in passing or when they wish to mate.

History

Outside of the Kundego themselves, not a lot is known of their history, especially their recent history after the Gendirl Sacred Pact . Though there is no known reason for their secrecy, it is speculated that they are reluctant to speak because of past associations with the now extinct Hahklemems.
