Enthurst

In desperation, Drusten Durthane pleaded to the forest for protection for him and his band of refugees.   “Oh mighty forest spirits hear my call, my fellows and I seek protection from our deadly pursuers. I know you still have powers like the old tales say, so please... I beg you use them now to save me and mine!”   And in an instant, the very trees pulled themselves free from the earth and rose to meet the threat, vanquishing the foes and saving the lives of the Dwarf lord and his companions.

Where Forest meets the Mountain

The earldom of Enthurst is a city state consisting of a majority dwarven and gnomish population. The city mostly consists of carved out tunnels in the mountain itself, with a few farms and smaller buildings established in the forest.

The Legend of Drusten Durthane

Until fairly recently Enthurst has been ruled over by Earl Drusten Durthane, the dwarven hero who led a group of refugees as they escaped the destruction of their previous homeland at the hands of orcish invaders. After fleeing for days, and with quickly diminishing rations, Drusten led his people into the forest in an attempt to lose the orcs that still pursued them.

Forest Spirits

The orcs however were not as slowed by the forest as Drusten had hoped, and with the orcs being far more versed in navigating the woodland realms all hopes of escape seemed lost. In a final attempt at salvation Drusten called out to the ancient spirits of the forest, the ones he had only heard about in fairy tales while growing up, and implored them to save his people... and legend says that they did as the pursuing orcs suddenly stopped, disappearing without a trace.
