The Messers
About
The Messers are a clandestine syndicate who act in the best interests of Rividan through acts of espionage, counter intelligence and sometimes sabotage. However, unlike other nation’s secret services the Messers are completely independent from the their nation’s government, instead they are privately run and funded entirely by donors from Rividanian noble families. This means that the Messers’ goals and agendas do not always align to the Rividanian council’s, as such the Messers are officially considered a dangerous political activist sect and its members are publicly denounced by Rividanian society and government. However despite that, its members most typically count themselves amongst the nobility and politicians of Rividan, although some members of the common folk have been sold on the Messers beliefs that every failing by the Rividanian Court is the result of foreign meddling.Erdinand Messer
The Messers are named after Erdinand Messer, the first and only King of Rividan. Erdinand Messer was the Baron of Rividan centuries ago when Erimos fell during the sundering. He decided that Rividan alone should rule over Arnham and declared himself King. He set out on a bloody crusade to conquer the other nations, but was ultimately defeated and slain. The next Baron of Rividan was far less ambitious and settled for being equal to the other Barons of Arnham. But support for what Messer set out to do never fully died within Rividan, and ever since then those who still believe Rividan should rule call themselves “Messers”.
