Ogres
Another race very little is known about are the mighty ogres. Sometimes called lesser giants or dumb giants, this may not be far from the truth. One thought put forth is that the ogres are the last descendants of the true giants at the end of their war with the great dragons ages ago. Perhaps the last of the giants were captured by the dragons, who attempted to bend them to their will, as has been seen with countless races since. If so, the dragons certainly failed, as ogres do not do anyone’s bidding. Another suggestion is that they are animated rocks, citing their homes in the mightiest of the Miridian Mountains. This has given rise to the idiom that a foolish person might be “dumb as rocks,” the person is really being compared to an ogre, which is also an insult in and of itself. They do speak a simplified form of the giants’ language, called Lowspeak. Linguists compare it to the way a young child might speak in Common. The ogres are truly gigantic, standing over nine feet tall with some tales claiming them to grow as tall as twelve feet. They tend to be mostly hairless, with tan, gray, or brown skin and dark, dull eyes. Their hands and feet are disproportionately large, even for one so huge, and their favored weapons are frequently large sections of tree branches they swing as clubs. When they are covered at all, it tends to be a hodgepodge of whatever items they have scavenged placed haphazardly to somewhat mimic clothing and armor. Very little is known of their culture, but they do seem to have a language and some can learn fragments of the common tongue. Beyond this their ways are a mystery.

Origin/Ancestry
Ogres are thought to be the last of the giants, possibly remnants of attempts by the elder dragons to bend defeated giants to their will.
