Trolls
Hostile, aggressive, and powerful, trolls are best known for their rapid healing abilities. Called boogies and green bloods for the color of the fluid they ooze when wounded, it has recently been postulated this is not blood at all, but a substance closer to tree sap. The prevailing thought nowadays is that trolls are more akin to a sentient plant, specifically a type of moss. Their distinctive green coloration is reflective of their floral origins. Their various numbers of limbs, heads, and what not are the colony growing in response to its environment and stresses. Parts of the plant will solidify into a woody substance similar to bone to give the troll structure and weapons like claws and teeth, though these bony protrusions can be seen protruding from any part of the body. So long as some portion of the colony survives, a troll can fully regenerate given enough time and food. Trolls, surprisingly, reproduce by budding and splitting off new offspring, again consistent with this claim. And perhaps the strongest piece of evidence are their vulnerabilities to fire and acids. The moss is damaged, rather than simply separated by a cut or stab wound, impairing its ability to weave back together and self repair. Little is known of troll culture beyond their obedience to the green dragon, Viridia. They have their own language which shares some similarities with the Sylvan family, but is still quite alien and difficult to understand or speak for non-trolls. Perhaps they have made some sort of pact with the green dragon lord to reclaim their jungle homeland? Information trickling out of the far south since the fall of the Sunwood is scarce, but rumors suggest the trolls do not get along well with the faelene or shadowfae who also serve their mistress.
Origin/Ancestry
Trolls are thought to be a type of sentient plant collective, made of many individual plant cells working together with a shared conciousness.
