Dragon knights

The Dragon Knights are the most elite and revered military order within the Draconic Kingdom. Handpicked by King Vendrick: From Modest Beginnings to a Monumental Legacy himself, they represent the pinnacle of martial prowess and unwavering loyalty. Drawing inspiration from the legendary dragons, symbols of power and majesty in the kingdom, the Dragon Knights are not just warriors but also symbols of the king's might and the kingdom's grandeur.
To become a Dragon Knight, one must undergo the harshest and most demanding training regime in the kingdom. This training emphasizes not only martial skills but also mental fortitude, strategy, and a deep understanding of the kingdom's history and values.
While there might be a friendly rivalry with other knightly orders, especially the Royal Knights, the Dragon Knights hold a position of immense respect. Their legendary status and close ties to the king mean that their words and actions carry significant weight in the Draconic Kingdom's affairs.
They are the primary protectors of the royal family. While the Royal Knights ensure the safety of the palace and its surroundings, the Dragon Knights are entrusted with the direct safety of the king and his immediate family.
In times of war or conflict, the Dragon Knights lead the charge, acting as the king's personal vanguard. Due to their exceptional skills, they are often sent on covert missions, intelligence gathering, or to handle threats that regular forces can't manage.

Structure

Dragonlord: The leader of the Dragon Knights, often a seasoned warrior with decades of experience. Chosen directly by the king, they have a seat on the king's council and play a crucial role in shaping the kingdom's military strategies.   Drake Commanders: The lieutenants of the Dragonlord, each commanding a division of Dragon Knights. They are responsible for training regimens and mission assignments.   Wyrmguard: The core of the Dragon Knights. Experienced and battle-hardened, they are often deployed for the most challenging and crucial tasks.   Drakelings: The youngest members, freshly inducted into the order, yet already surpassing most warriors of the kingdom in skill and prowess.

Culture

The Dragon Knights of the Draconic Kingdom revere dragons as symbols of immense strength, wisdom, and power. This deep admiration is interwoven into their rites, ceremonies, and even personal adornments. A pivotal moment in a Dragon Knight's journey is the "Dragon's Breath" rite of ascension, a guarded ceremony testing their valor, intellect, and martial prowess. Furthermore, the Dragon Knights proudly bear shimmering tattoos reminiscent of dragon scales, marking achievements and dedication.   Loyalty and fraternity are paramount values, with knights swearing binding oaths of allegiance not only to the monarch but to their fellow compatriots. They stand together in battle and in peace, ready to lay down their lives for one another. Apart from their martial commitments, they're encouraged towards scholarship, making them warriors as well-rounded in knowledge as they are in combat. The annual Draconic Solstice festival, celebrated with fervor, showcases their traditions, including jousting, storytelling, and grand feasts.   This code-bound brotherhood adheres to a rigid code emphasizing honor, valor, wisdom, and fairness. Their halls, filled with treasured dragon relics, stand as a testament to their rich legacy. Songs of valor and tales of legendary knights resonate in their gatherings. Additionally, the Dragon Knights have a compassionate tradition of adopting and mentoring orphans from warzones, ensuring the continuity of their ranks and offering these children a renewed purpose and a familial bond.
