Wanshen

The Town of Wandering Spirits

An old, but small town tucked into the base of a gentle mountain range. Surrounded by farmland and rolling hills blooming with wildflowers nearly year-round. Lush deciduous forests dotted with meadows and creeks have cozied up to the town's borders.

Ornate & Beautiful Items

The monks are often highly skilled artisans and offer classes to study their techniques in return for volunteer work maintaining the temple grounds. Inhabitants of Wanshen, or those drawn to the town in order to train as apprentices, have a particular sense for detail and appreciation for quality attention when working. These goods are often found surprisingly affordable, as many in Wanshen believe the delight of others is part of their payment.

Traveler's Capes & Clothing

Wanshen is known as the Town of Wandering Spirits for good reason, it is the last town before the mountain range and home to many stopping for rest after a long journey through the surrounding grasslands and hills. The monks, having a particular fondness for quality robes, have made clothing readily available for weary travelers once theirs have become threadbare. Likewise, visitors can find any and all manner of capes to protect against a variety of elements here.

Services

Hot Spring (Public Bath)

A delightfully warm set of pools cascade down the rocky mountainside nearby the temple. Beautifully carved decks and stairways have been built around them for easier access, though some have been left in their natural state to suit individual preference. While nudity is not stritcly encouraged, it not forbidden, provided that guests are polite and do not stare.

Zen Garden

Within the outdoor stone walls of the temple is a carefully curated garden, filled with flowers and precisely pruned trees and foliage. Natural stone seating is interspersed with comfortable wooden benches to stop for a rest and take in the view. The garden gently climbs the beginning of the mountainside, with small streams carving down the garden from the hot springs above. Curved wooden bridges and stepping stones gently cross the water features that lead to the flying koi pond at the entrance of the garden.

Artisan Classes

Individual classes can be taken to learn how to craft a single item of Beautiful quality, for a fee that scales with the cost of materials and the instructor's time. However, this fee can be waived with volunteer work around the temple.
