Lindwyrms of Hell's Gate

Vulkanwyrms are similar to their cousins the Lindwyrms , but while the Lindwyrm lives in forest caves, the Vulkanwyrms live in Hell's Gate , where they eat away at the boiling black rock creating endless, twisting pathways.

I have never had the honor of meeting one, but I have seen one. It was strange because it wasn't at Hell's Gate, even though that's the only location they seem to be able to correctly function.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Vulkanwyrms are skinnier, narrower, and longer Draconics than the average Lindwyrm. They tend to have a more sickly look compared to their forest-dwelling cousins, who are much thicker and rounded. However, both kinds have two front claws. Most Vulkanwyrms are a pale white and have very little variations in color.

Because of the overwhelming heat of Hell's Gate the Vulkanwyrms have the ability to loosen or tighten their scales. This helps them maintain a more consistent body temperature, than some of their other Draconic family members.

And unlike the average Lindwyrm, Vulkanwyrms do not have spikes or "fins" on their backs.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Vulkanwyrms do have the abilities of an average Lindwyrm, such as rolling into a ball and spitting out a poisonous substance. However, Vulkanwyrms can also eat the rock that surrounds them. According to the extremely little research done on these Draconics, this seems to be their main source of food and nutrients.

And it is quite a mystery how the Vulkanwyrm can eat this rock, because to any other Draconic if it is ingested into the body in any way, it acts as a poison, causing irritation to the scales or in severe cases death.
