Glow

Glow is a very simple, low level spell that it is barely considered a magical spell any longer. Anyone with a scroll and who can read, can cast this spell. It is useable by children as young as six years old and by anyone regardless of their knowledge of the arcane.

Effect

Creates and area of dim light in a 10' radius around a caster or an object upon which it is cast.

Manifestation

From a distance, the object or caster is encased in an aura of dim yellow-green light.

Discovery

This spell was discovered long ago, and is considered obsolete with its replacement of the stronger and versatile light spell. It is commonly used as a night light for children who have difficulties sleeping in full darkness or used to navigate to privies or a chamber pot in the middle of the night without using a brighter light and risk disturbing others within a household.
Students create these scrolls as a learning aid to master both their casting technique and craftsmanship, earning themselves a few coppers along the way. Merchants make these scrolls available in huge quantities to households and inns.

Effect Duration

The spell lasts four hours and cannot be dismissed (but can be dispelled). This limitation has never been surpassed, and is thus the primary reason for it having fallen out of favor of the true arcane masters.
