The Elponamte

The Elponamte are a creation by The Sandmen of Barilos of Barilos. They resemble a gorilla with its size and strength, but has a snake like head with large venomous fangs and carriers of @Elponamte Syndrome.

The sandman reverently assist the few known Elponamte troops delivering food, but do so surreptitiously so as not to draw their wrath. Despite being recognized as a failed experiement, the practice of extinguishing the species is not a course of action the sandmen wil take. Knowledge of this species outside of the sandmen is not common, as precious few survive a direct confrontatoin with them, and are considered monstrous by them.

Anatomy

The Elponamte were created to resemble a gorilla with its size and strength, but has a snake like head with large venomous fangs.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Elponamte were created by the The Sandmen of Barilos in to create a high load bearing work animal by combining gorillas and various venomous desert snakes for their hardiness in the harsh desert enviironment. Numerous combinations were tried, many failing to provide creatures that even survived, and thus the combination that originated the Elponamte is lost. However, nature found a way to perpetuate the species naturally through the mating of male and female members.

Ecology and Habitats

The Elponamte are rare and live in troops near isolated desert oases.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are omnivores, thus foraging desert flora and occasionally raiding travelling groups, feasting on all members, animal and humanoid alike.

Domestication

The Elponamte are violent and ravenous, seeing all other living creatures as prey and are thus not fit for domestication.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Elponamte use their tongue, much like other snakes, to supplement their visual senses to detect prey and enemies.
