The world of Kanassa is a large oceanic planet with tumultuous seas that have swallowed whole contents underneath their great waves throughout history. The Kanassian people have suffered many great losses in their expansive history. Though not the oldest of the races, they are by no small stretch the youngest. Their planet has known a strife that few others have ever faced.
With latent psychic powers amplified by a rare mineral scattered over the planet after a comet crashed into the world, the Kanassian people have long held the fabled power of visions and farseek.
Long ago, at a pinnacle in Kanassian society, the people of Kanassa all drew together for a single meditative ceremony. They had hoped to gaze into the far future and unlock the secrets that awaited them, but the ceremony ended in disaster. The combined psychic force of the Kanassian seers torn their planet apart, ripping entire continents from the shelf and caused untold natural disasters. The whole planet might have been doomed if not for the avocation of the Psions who rose up among their people as the most gifted psychics amongst them. Thus the Kanassian people were able to hold their world together using their unique power, but there are still long standing ramifications even to this day.
Planar winds from torn dimensions constantly barrage the planet, creating a psychic mist that drives even a hardened minds nearly to madness, and the flow of time on Kanassa has become distorted beyond reckoning. Kanassians and visitors to the planet can tumble from the present to the past, or from the past to the future, creating a convoluted timeline that threatens to one day destroy itself.
Seekers amongst the Kanassian people have made pilgrimage across the stars for generations, searching for an answer to heal the wounded planet of Kanassa, but the terrible truth is that its utter destruction may be the only possible cure.
