Konats
A World of Symphonies and Swordplay
Konats is an enormous, jungle-covered planet, with cities made of gray stone and decorated like a Renaissance city would be. Stepping onto this planet is like stepping into seventeenth-century Europe, minus the plagues and boistering with advanced steam-based technology.
Grote Zaal
A tiered city and the capital of Konats. Built out of granite and limestone, the city resembles a ziggurat or pyramid the size of a small country. At the top live the top Konatsu nobility and their Imperator, the head of the ruling council. The top level is gardens and flowing artifical ponds and rivers. The second level is where the knights and nobility live, composed of manors, estates and grand ballrooms where the finest Konatsu musicians come to perform. The third tier is where squires live, Konatsu knight-in-training, nobles' children and the like live and work. Within the pyramid's structure, accessible from under the Imperator's throne itself, is an entrance to a vast library filled with Konats' greatest musical works, a treasure hall of the swords of the great warriors of old, and fine intstruments, preserved for the ages. Sprawled around the ziggurat is a large city of marketplaces, houses, apartments, craftsmens' workshops, and a large, open trader's market. Rather than stairs (though they are present), transit between the tiers is handled by steam-powered lifts. Called Harmonic Elevators, their valves are keyed to different notes, the lifts playing out notes as they rise and fall.
Noirmundo Jungle
- The jungle where many Konatsu warriors go for their rites of passage. Broken instruments and grave markers litter the clearings here from the failures from the past, giving visual incentive to the initiates. Paths carve through this jungle like so many others all over the planet, though this is rumored to be the deepest, oldest and darkest of all forest.
Porto Fermio
- A major spaceport town on Konats, and the most technologically-advanced part of the planet. Here, advanced music halls utilize acoustics to their maximum potential, and actual research is done on the nature of sound. Konats, due to this research, has the most audibly pleasant spaceport in the known universe, as the roar of space engines is turned to quiet, simple notes of music by elaborate architecture. Ruins Around the planet are several mysterious ruins, some with barrows, some with stone circles where ancient Konatsu would practice their devotion to music. Occasionally, one can find the remains of ancient houses built into the earth. Early Konatsu weapons have been known to be discovered here, but out of reverence, they are not removed.
Arthis
- A small agricultural town on Konats, like so many others. A small circle of huts, a small shrine, and a small amphitheater mark the borders between the houses and the farmland. Off in the distance, a vassal lord's castle can be seen.
Grand Hub
- One of the only other metallic structures on Konats and centered in the center of the planet's largest ocean, Grand Hub powers the steam-powered railways that provide high-speed transportation all over the planet, providing transit between all the major cities of the planet. A constant plume of white smoke emits from the central smokestack of this massive building. It is augmented and assisted by smaller hubs, but this is the biggest, visible from the air. The smokestack is built so it emits a constantly-changing musical note, which is called the Song of the Seas.
Kayin
- Tucked away in the north western corner of a massive continent is the mountainous kingdom of Kayin. Recently the site of a four year bloody rebellion, the once lawless lands have been unified under one banner, that of the Golden Phoenix, the sigil of the late King Calad's house. Kayin City, the capital of this impoverished empire is tucked away in the shadow of the mountains. Its a vast, circular city, the richest in the kingdom, would be considered a poor man's Abbingdon. Still hurting and rebuilding from the war, young King Kelares and his court hope to someday make this the crowning jewel of Konats.
