The Tier system is unique Dragonball: Infinity and is what separates Roleplaying here from any other Dragonball MUD available. This system rewards players for their in-character efforts rather than relying on a traditional powerlevel mirror of their in-game character. Each “Tier” of power that your character reaches is obtained by meeting in-game powerlevel requirements and gaining color-specific roleplaying points. There are two binary colors of roleplaying points: Green and Red. Green points are awarded for non-combat related roleplaying and generally are spent on in-game rewards such as custom items, equipment, doubles and a myriad of other incentives as well in in-character inventions and upgrades. Red roleplaying points help determine your tier of power in the roleplaying setting and when you are available to learn new techniques and skills to use on the roleplaying channel.
This system was developed to create a more natural environment for the Dragonball setting where one has to slowly accumulate skills, abilities and power rather than emerging from nowhere as a god-like superbeing. Veterans to our system will proudly defend the Tier system for its ability to craft a long standing legacy for your characters rather than the brief and irrelevant encounters that plague other systems.
Below are listed each of the Tiers and a brief description of the level of power that is associated with each. These are basic and principle guidelines. On rare occasion it may be fitting to break the recommended level of power, but should be discussed with a Roleplay Admin whenever possible.
Tier Zero / Starless
All new characters begin in the roleplaying world as “Starless” or Tier Zero, which is the equivalent of the strongest possible non-super human of their race. Starless represents a person who has innate energy potential within them, but has not unlocked their power.
A Starless character is capable of being an adept martial artist, and extraordinary gifted for a civilian member of their race. They are, essentially, budding prodigies cut from a different cloth than the average man or woman. A Starless character has access only to basic level equipment (small arms, basic melee weapons, body armor), but no starships (combat spaceships/jets), major vehicles (tanks), or magic/ki infused weaponry or artifacts.
Starless characters are capable of minor super-human strength and speed such as lifting a small car with their bare hands, jumping ten/twenty feet off the ground, and fighting multiple opponents at once. They are exceptional fighters, and should be able to dispatch even trained soldiers/police that don't possess ki-potential of their own. A starless character may be able to predict the path of a bullet (before it's fired), but will be unable to catch it or deflect it without suffering injury. A starless character is also more durable than your average civilian, capable of fighting at length for longer periods of time, and being more resistant to attacks that would cripple or maim an average man or woman. A starless character will gain access to their first energy technique before they have left this tier and may also begin learning about more important abilities.
The roleplay admins encourage roleplayers to use this tier to develop the core concept of their character.
Examples of Starless fighters would be Goku and Krillin during their Training with the Turtle Hermit in Dragonball.
Tier One (T1)
At Tier One, your character has finally suffered through enough tribulation to unlock their latent powers. This is the tier that you gain many of what might be considered your signature techniques, learn to sense energies and gain an increase in your fighting power and skills.
A Tier One fighter can lift a car over their head and throw it with one hand. They are capable of average super-human powers, such as being able to run faster than a turbo-car, jump over buildings, and punch through solid metal plating without much problem. You have become exceptionally skilled at martial arts and fighting, and should be able to take on even deadly mercenaries, assassins, and martial arts masters. You can predict the trajectory of bullets and deflect them in mid-air without injury.
The difference in strength and stamina between Tier One and Starless is not much, a well trained Starless fighter can still fight toe-to-toe against someone of this Tier, but your emerging energy, and the techniques you develop at this level will normally be decisive against opponents who are less experienced than you.
Energy blasts and techniques developed at this level are powerful and destructive in comparison to modern weaponry. A Tier One energy attack is on par with grenade-like explosives and rocket launchers. A Tier One fighter can most likely use anywhere from one to four energy techniques in a single battle.
Examples of Tier One fighters include Goku and Tien at the end of the twenty-second martial arts tournament.
Tier Two (T2)
Reaching Tier Two has brought your character to a much higher plateau of power. The increase at this Tier is much more noticeable and significant than the last. A Tier Two fighter can combat multiple fighters of the Tiers below him and still have a good chance of coming out on top. Your powers of energy manipulation have increased, your strength and stamina have become well beyond anything a mortal human is capable of dealing with. You can cut through small armies of soldiers and could receive artillery fire from military units without much damage. Bullets practically bounce off your skin and you could most likely catch them in mid-air and throw them back with more force than they were shot towards you.
You can uproot and throw small houses, run up the side of skyscrapers, or simply knock it down with a well placed punch. Your energy attacks have significantly increased in damage, capable of annihilating entire buildings and small city blocks with enough focus and effort. Your ability to sense energies has expanded, you can begin to learn how to fly, and you should be capable of producing even basic energy blasts without any kind of training. To the common man, you are essentially super-human and capable of taking over small worlds, provided there is no resistance. By now your powers and skills will have begun to attract or draw the attention of powerful beings in the galaxy who either see you a potential ally, or a threat.
Examples of Tier Two fighters would be the battle between Goku and Piccolo at the end of the twenty-third Martial Arts Tournament.
Tier Three (T3)
Tier Three is the first stepping stone of transcendent power. Like Tier One, your strength, stamina and speed have not increased by a very visible amount since the last Tier, but you have unlocked the deeply rooted essence of your ki and are capable of learning your first form changing transformation.
A Tier Three warrior is more or less equal in power to the Tier Two fighter in terms of strength, speed and skill, but has access to more developed techniques and masterful fighting form. They should struggle to overpower multiple Tier Two opponents, but clearly have the upper hand in a long-term bout. Decisive blows, and coordinated attacks should allow those same warriors to be a deadly match however, and so the Tier Three martial artist may have to rely on the dangerous boost of their transformation to win such a bout. A transformation is an unbelievable surge of power that makes you capable of incredible super-human feats using your energy. A transformation is a very critical breaking point for your character. The power that is unleashed within you upon activating it is completely unstable and can rip your body apart in a very short amount of time. It is so unstable that it would be wholly unwise to unleash this potential at random or during anything less than a fight to the death where destroying your own body would be necessary just to survive.
Examples of Tier Three are Goku and Piccolo while facing Raditz.
Tier Four (T4)
Tier four is another massive jump in powerlevel and scale, significantly noticeable against all the previous Tiers. You can challenge entire planetary military with this strength, destroy vast amounts of cities, blast mountains into rubble and turn lakes into vapor with nothing more than your energy attacks alone. Buildings fall like dominoes to your punches, and the sky is literally the limit as you achieve mastery over the principles of wielding and manipulating your ki. By now you have become a renowned warrior of the Age, and anyone who decides to throw punches with you had best be ready for continent altering battles. At this tier your character has achieved enough potential to face even the greatest threats to the galaxy (even if it only is for a few rounds).
More importantly than all of these physical changes is the ability to actively control your first transformation. You can now enter into it at will, though it still drains you quite quickly, its effects on your body are now much less damaging and you can remain in this form for a good length of time (enough to hopefully kill anyone forcing you to transform). The risk of damaging your body remains, but only if a battle is extending well beyond the breaking point.
Examples of Tier Four are the Z Warriors in their battle versus Nappa.
Tier Five (T5)
Once again you have reached another critical level in the development of your power and strength. Like all previous secondary Tiers, your physical prowess has not increased by a noticeable amount, but you have once again delved into the very core of your ki and discovered a higher level of ascended strength—gaining access to your second transformation.
Like the first transformation, your new form is unbelievably unstable. Enough to again rip your body apart at the seems, but the power it bestows is absolutely legendary and nigh unstoppable to even an army of lower level ascended warriors. This transformation gives you a massive boon of power with an apex that could literally burn off an entire hemisphere of a planet if left unchecked. It would be beyond dangerous to activate this form in anything less than the most dire circumstances, and will most likely only erupt in a life or death situation.
Examples of Tier Five would be the battle between Goku and Vegeta.
Tier Six (T6)
This is it. Mastery of your form. Legendary power. Tier Six is where all the handicaps and all of the training wheels are completely and utterly off. Reaching this level of power has made you one of the most feared and renowned warriors in the entire universe. If the galaxy doesn't know your name by now, you could literally write it on the face of a planet and nothing but your equals could do anything to stop you. Conquering the galaxy is now well within your ability. Your energy blasts can send civilizations to the dark ages, and any battle you commit your full power to will probably be written into the history of the galaxy as either the emergence of a destroyer or a savior. Which path you choose to push your power towards is entirely your decision to make.
Like previous tiers this is also where you develop the power to harness and control your second transformation, making it a viable and accessible weapon in your arsenal of abilities without the threat of blowing yourself (and a major of chunk of the planet that your standing on) into ash.
Examples of Tier Six are the Z Warriors versus the Ginyu Force.
Tier Seven (T7)
You are a god among mortals. Your power is now at its complete form. Nothing in all of the universe can stand above you. This is the ultimate frontier. You have reached the pinnacle of strength in our Dragonball: Infinity setting. Congratulations, you have worked unbelievably hard to reach this point and your reward is one last transformation. A power that is world-shattering and reality altering. Like all first level transformations, this one is just as unstable as all the rest and with so much power behind it, it is doubtful that anyone will ever be able to truly master its strength, but the power you gain can literally conquer all of the universe if you so desire. This is the end game. You will still be able to gain red roleplaying points and develop new techniques, but for now this is as powerful as any mortal can become. Should you so reach this level, your name will be known and feared by every living being in the galaxy, and any event you commit your strength towards will be marked down in recorded history for all of time.
Examples of Tier Seven: Goku versus Frieza.
