Þaplú Salamanders
Þaplú Salamanders1 are several species of giant salamanders found in lakes and rivers in Ela'k Forest and Jarrak Forest. The largest of these is the þap'orlan salamander (over two meters long) in Erra Lake, ancestor of the semi-domesticated varieties raised by the Útels.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Resemble normal salamanders, though with wrinklier skin.
Ecology and Habitats
Mostly found in lakes and rivers, sometimes marshes.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Mostly eat fish or frogs, occasionally carcasses or small animals in or by the water if they get the chance. Tamed varieties are fed leftovers similarly to pigs.

Geographic Origin and Distribution
Found in Erra Lake, Úvelan Lake, Rakolúð Lake and Zaþil Lake, and the rivers Óf, Eastern Óf, Húrr River, Þán River, Háv'þal River and Vúðúk River.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Able to detect small changes in water pressure to make up for poor eyesight.
