Darg Roots

Darg roots were once found throughout southeastern Dragonía, but since the region dried up into the Southern Desert they've become endemic to the shores of Ymn Lake. Originally domesticated by Minotaurs in the region, darg roots have since spread to the Plain of Kings and northernmost Þrihakía via trade and are now a staple crop grown by Mörkels.

The tubers are protected by small plates with sharp edges to deter herbivores and retain moisture during droughts.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Darg roots are a staple of Mörkel and Minotaur cusine, the former usually boil them while the latter prefer them sliced and roasted. Þrihaks on the northern border of Þrihakía sometimes eat the roots as well.
The plates protecting the tuber itself are often used as spoons.
