Ölan Panthers

Ölan panthers¹ are the largest felines in Dragonía, and the top predators in Ela'k Forest. They are seldom seen as they spend most of their time up in trees, preferring to drop down on unsuspecting prey (including Útels) and quickly devouring it before retreating back up instead of hunting on the ground. Very young panthers are an exception, as their mother hides them beneath fallen logs or bushes and only comes down to nurse them until they're able to climb for themselves. While most Útels never see an ölan panther, their unsettling screeches can be heard at twilight.

Anatomy

Ölan panthers have bluish grey fur with irregular white and black spots and stripes, and lighter belly.

Ecology and Habitats

Ölan panthers are mostly found in the southern part of Ela'k Forest, where the vegetation is denser and towns are few and far between.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Prey includes rodents and flightless birds, boars and occasionally reptiles. Larger animals are eaten on the spot as quickly as possible, while smaller prey is sometimes dragged upp the trees, especially if the panther has weaned kittens.
