Nilla Shrubs

Nilla bushes1 are endemic to the shores of Tasúl Lake in Fökan Hills, on the southwestern Plain of Kings in eastern Dragonía. They bear distinct orange fruit known as nilla berries2, which the local Mörkels harvest in the autumn, and are highly sought after by aristocrats on the plains due to being virtually the only sweet food found in the region.
While some of the berries are eaten fresh when in season -often with cream or in porridge-, they are more commonly dried, added into ale or made into wine, the latter which is often served hot during winter, and usually exclusive to monarchs and honoured guests. Dried nilla berries are used to flavour other food as well, particularly stews.
