SC2020 - Heimir's drum

Heimir Hákonsson was a warhero of the clan wars. He took command of the Blutbrota's army at a point where they were driven into exile, hiding in the forrest. Heimir had grown up in the forest and spent his life as a hunter there. He knew it like the back of his hand and his defense made it an impenetrable fortress for the Blutbrotas. Initially Heimir's skirmishers would come out of nowhere with a deadly strike and retreat fast without giving the enemy time to retaliate. Or they would pick off individual soliders as the regiment made their way through the forest, slowly demoralizing them until they retreated. This later tactic gave rise to the use of drums, that would be played for a few beats far enough away that the enemy could not spot the drummer, but close enough that all could hear them. This served as warning that Heimir was a bout to strike. While the initial warnings meant increased casualties, it became a demoralizing tool so great that a few men armed with a drum or two could deter an entire batalion and make them turn around. When Heimir died, he told his soldiers to skin him, tan his hide, and make him into a drum, so that might lead them forever. And so they did.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Heimi'rs drum make all allied listeners immune to exhaustion and sleep, while making enemies tremble in fear. Any listeners are immune to all forms of exhaustion and sleep, be the mundane or magical. However, with prolonged use there will be a backlash.

Significance

Heimir's drum is used in a yearly celebration. The celebration involves drinking a mixture of blood an herbs before participating in a giant mosh-pit to the beat of Heimir's drum. The magic of the beating drum beat ensures that the participants do not tire. This is THE symbol of Clan Blutbrota and is their most sacred relic.
