Magic

It is not fully understood where Magical Energy comes from. The Gods do not give any insight on the matter and the best attempts of mortals to understand it are often in vain.
Magic seems to come from another plane of existance that is distict from both that of mortals and the Gods. Some areas of the world seem to have an easier time accessing this Magical Energy.
Magic is a random and dangerous thing. It is unpredictable, but very powerful. Many seek to harness it for their own ends, most of them are destroyed by the persuit.  This unpredicatbility is often refered to as The Chaos Factor by scholars.
