Chapel of Saint Arlain

Saint Arlain was one of the Saints anointed by the Dragon Lords of the last era. He started his life as a mere mercenary, attempting to eek out a living under the new tyrannical regime. As a horde of hobgoblins emerged from the nearby caves very few stood in their way as the Dragon Lord Gulzras had done well to crush the best fighters who had stood against him. Dumond Arlain, who would be later dubbed the Stalwart Shield, stood in defense of a small town against the horde. Because of this, and the growing realization that the Dragon Lords would need to employ mortals to manage their realms, Dumond was anointed to Saint Arlain, and would later become the functional lord of the realm. Though the Dragon Lords never treated their saints as equals, they did garnish their favored servants with power and treasure as the saints proved their abilities to exert the Dragon's will on the mortal races they dominated.   After his anointment, however, Saint Alain was not content with lording over his master's kingdom. He continued to find and destroy the hobgoblin threat where ever he could find them. Eventually his zealous fury led him to a shadowy temple on a high mountain peak, to which neither him or his forces were ever seen again.   His Chapel was built the year he did not return, under orders of Gulzras, a monument to his favored servant. Many other mortals would be chosen as stewards of Gulzras' domain, but no other would be anointed by the great dragon.
