Journey to the Grove of Cenarius

General Summary

The party began their adventure in the small glade near the encampment for the Enclave of Arabelle. Nearby the party noticed a small swarm of Ravens that were circling something a hundred meters or so away. When they went to investigate they found a Elk mount that had belonged to an Elven Paladin of Cenarius. The party then decided to tack the footprints of the assumed attacker, eventually finding a small goblin patrol being led by a female hobgoblin. A fight ensued as the party took arrow fire from the other side of a ravine and they managed to strike back and close the distance with great valor. As the goblin troupe suffered casualties the hobgoblin leader used a magical amulet to open a portal behind her and fled the combat along with one additional goblin ranger. The other goblins were unable to escape the parties wrath. Upon a closer inspection of the goblin corpses Tyrellion, the Elven Paladin, discovered a lock of bloodied blonde hair. After the Gnomish Ranger, Zook, informed their new party member that they had seen these types of goblins before, the party decided to report the presence of goblins to the enclave at Arabelle. Upon returning they showed the goblin corpse to Commander Aelar, head of the order of Cenarius, who said that he would be unable to keep this event a secret from Lady Ilgossi. Commander Aelar identified that the hair and the mount likely belonged to Paladin Enna, who had not returned from her patrol. After a bit of persuasion, the Commander and Tyrellion managed to swap the body of the goblin and the captured Dwarf who was set to be executed in a ritual sacrifice that night. The party then set out to the Grove of Cenarius, the location of the final battle between the 5 Rings bandit horde and the Elven people of Arabelle. On the way Zook and the Tiefling Druid, Mavine, explained their quest for Nall staff. Upon arriving at the grove they were greeted with a horrific sight of hundreds of petrified trees with black wood. Each tree had encompassed and frozen in time a combatant from the battle, forever standing in the last position they were when the god-like Cenarius was defeated. Tyrellion searched for his former friend and ally, finding her frozen while being stabbed by a glaive from a large human bandit. Approaching the center of the glaive they found where Cenarius' figure stood, being impaled by the Nall staff still clutched in the hands of the mighty Goliath warrior that had driven t through his chest. Both figures stood atop a mound of high ground above a pool of stagnant water surrounding them. When they neared the edge of the water a large dense mass of vegetation lumbered toward them. As it's hungry vines attempted to bash and consume the party they were able to hack away at the monstrosity until its' attacks relented and it fell still. Upon inspecting its' still body they found an iron staff. Inscribed on the staff, in Sylvan, "To the daughter of air and darkness".
