Contex (CON-teks)
Thia's Day, 40 Leaqu 932 CE
The Contex of Chaelia is the primary advisor to the Archduce. They act as the first and foremost organizer of matters of state, and are responsible for scheduling the Archduce's days. Although the Contex has much power within Chaelia, the title is unheard of to outsiders, and does not command much respect from them.
Qualifications
Contexes are rigorously tested on their knowledge of relevant issues (the topics considered relevant change by the year) before they are able to take office. Only candidates who show intelligence, an openness to research, and a firm resolve to do right by the country are considered for this position, although the qualifiers of what each requirement means depends on the judge.
Requirements
All Contexes must be at least thirty years old before they are considered eligible for the position. This is reasoned as being due to the amount of life experience required for the job. The only other requirement is for the Contex to be a legal citizen of Chaelia. Immigrants to Chaelia are considered eligible so long as they have obtained citizenship.
Appointment
Contexes are voted into office by a council of the Duces and Counttels from a list of candidates provided by the Duce of Jindal, who acts as a judge. Voting councils are called every ten years, or after the death of the previous Contex, on the first of Juan.
Responsibilities
Contexes are tasked with organizing the Archduce's day so that urgent matters of state are dealt with in a timely manner. As such, they are responsible for assigning a priority level to each and every task that comes into the executive office.
Benefits
Contexes are afforded a generous salary for the length of their term, and are permitted a small severance bonus when they leave office.
