Stormbird Wyvern

The Stormbird Wyvern is small wyvern found mostly in the North American Wilderness. Other names for the wyvern inclued the Thunderbird Wyvern, Thundervern, Stormvern or Stormbird. It was also called the Thunderbird by many Native American cultures due to its resemblance of a bird and its lighting redirection, reminicant of they myths of the spirit Thunderbird.

The Stormbird Wyvern is best known for it's inteligence. It is possibly as inteligent as Corvids and perhaps even some primates. It's inteligence also makes it one of the most mischievous wyvern. They will often swoop in and steel things from people, giving them a reminder to always stay vigilant. They have also been known to pull cat tails, smack people's head with their wings, steal food from anything, shock passerbyers, and will generaly be a nuisance to anyone.

Still Stormbirds have found their way into many human cultures. They have become a replacement for dogs, although they act more like cats than anything. Infact, it is belived that they entered into human settlements the same way cats did. Stormbirds can be trained just like dogs. However, they usualy try and find the quickest and easiest way to do a task possible. Either way, the task gets done.

Description

Stormbirds hold the typical wyvern stature, 2 hind limbs and a set of wings. Unlike most dragons, Stormbird wings resemble actual bird wings. They only have a single digit and one continuous membrain. They have a few small talons on the hand of their wings, allowing them to climb and easily grip onto things with all 4 limbs. Most of the time Stormbirds are bipedal, and have their wings set to their side like birds. Sometimes they will crawl around on all-fours, similar to bats. Stormbirds have long and then tails, with a membrane from the tip of the tail to the hindquarters. On their hindquarters they have 3 front talons, and one facing backwards, like bird talons. They have no dewclaws.

Stormbird scales are increadibly small, and their skin feels and looks more leatherly. On the ridge of their backs there are larger and slightly thicker scales. Stormbirds have some small featherlike spines running down their backs. These spines may give the apearance of feathers but are more like sharp pieces of metal. On their wings they have larger feather shaped plates. The plates are frayed along the edges giving it a feathery apearance, though the feel is not the same. These plates are only attached to the wing itself not the membrane. The plates do not extend very far over the wing membrane.

Stormbirds are usualy shades of dark blue, gray, purple, and rarely black. Their scale color and pattern are very close in color, and they often look like they are a single color. Their most obvious patterns resemble feathers or much larger scales, giving the appearance that they are bigger than they are.
