The Hunters Code

The Hunters Code is a written code used to mark the location of a target or warn others of dangers. It is most commonly seen carved into or painted on trees, sometimes with small patches of bark removed.

The code consists of a series of symbols remresenting different words or phrases. Some combinations of these symbols can also be used to describe more things and can even be interpreted as simple sentences.

Origins

The true origins of the code has been lost, however, information about why the code was created is still around. The code was created to communicate information through language barriers. Learning a spoken language takes a lot of time, and many of the recorces to do so have sense been destroyed. In order to quickly communicate people found that drawing pictures was easier. People also found that tree carvings could be a quick way to give information without being present to give the information in the first place.

At first the code was mostly used to mark information about the area itself, such as what animals have been spotted or if there was an edible or a dangerous plant. Some comunities started using it to mark which hunting territory was theirs. Soon individual hunters started using it to claim territory. Now today, the code is used to convay any information there is to know about any explored territory. The carvings can be seen almost anywhere in any forest or territory of any kind. Some people will even bring stakes to plant in the ground if carving a tree isn't avalible.
