Nectar
There are few beverages that hold as much importance in the Fae culture as nectar This sweet, golden, liquor-like drink has its part in every big celebration and rite of the faekind: a young fae has their first taste of nectar during their coming of age ceremony, and lovers share a cup of it in their wedding, as a symbol of their union. Nectar is drunk when a diplomatic deal between two Courts is sealed, and given as an offering to the spirits of nature during the celebration of the Solstice. It is believed that the recipe for nectar dates back to the old Faerie Realm, before a catastrophe tore it apart.
History
The exact history of nectar is unknown, but it is believed that the beverage dates back to the times before the catastrophe. Some stories tell that the recipe for nectar was first given to the fae by the spirits of flowers themselves, but different Courts seem to have different versions of this legend - ones that put their own ancestors to the spotlight, of course. What is known is that nectar has been a part of the fae culture for as long as anyone can remember.
