The Witch of the Ferngrove Hall
If you ever wander too deep in the forest of Greenhollow, you might find yourself in a meadow green with ferns, deadly silent, no birds nor insects can be heard, no wind blows. Now, if that should happen, remove your socks, turn them upside down and put them back to your feet. Then spit over your left shoulder, turn around thrice, and walk backwards the same way you came. If you are lucky, you will get away. If not, well... I'll drink one in your memory.A story heard in a pub in a small village near the Greenhollow. No account remains on, whether "one in the memory" was drank or not.
It is no wonder, that many legends and stories exist of the ancient forest of Greenhollow. Many of them are a version of the classic tale of "if you wander too far, you will be lost", usually told to keep the children away from dangerous places. One such a story of the forest is the Legend of the Witch of the Ferngrove Hall. While there are many different versions, depending on which village around the Forest is the one where one hears the story, one thing is sure: should you end up as the visitor of the witch of the forest, it is very likely that you will never be seen again.
