16 Embroidery, Agency, Crime Scene
General Summary
The party rested at the Bedrock & Breakfast after Klover followed the detective-looking guy to a building with blinds closed. They woke up in the late afternoon then decided to check out the Green Retreat. Menti stayed behind at the hotel (and if you want we can presume that you put about 4 hours into the blacklight skill book while the rest of the party did other things). Solana and Klover took an embroidery class with Meadow Evergreen, while Lyrra and Thiol got some coffee and looked at the book section. After the class, the party considered going to the mech base, but then realized they would need security clearances, so they went to Grimsbane & Garrush.
At the detective agency, they met the assistant Umbra Cromwell, and Klover saw the guy that he had followed - Jasper Garrush. Umbra told them that Jasper is so weird because he hasn't been the same since his daughter disappeared. Archer Grimsbane gave the party their temporary and discussed the terms of the investigation with the party - they'd each recieve 1000gp to find the killer of the Prince, but they need at least three pieces of evidence to be able to convict the killer. They also have 3 uses of "zone of truth" at the detective agency for questioning purposes. The party considered the merits of getting away with murder and calling it self defense.
Grimsbane explained that part of the reason for the King's desire for outsider is the rumor that a tiefling male with standing-up horns was seen near the crime scene the night of the murder, and Grimsbane happens to also match that description (and he doesn't have an alibi). They'll have more people matching that description rounded up for questioning within a couple hours.
The party then went to investigate at the House of Lords. Thiol questioned the janitor Drathgar about the window to the Princes' office, which had been broken and then repaired. Lyrra questioned Cloven Snow and Everit Wright, who were working on taxes and census things and they said they went to Club Mahogany that night. Klover questioned Fane Moonfall and then questioned the fern in the Prince's room. The fern said that a giant robot arm broke through the windows and incinerated the prince. He got the descriptioin of the logo that was drawn on the mechanical arm. Solana questioned Larc Lestat, who works on agriculture things, and he said he was on a date with the librarian Margaret. Then she questioned Fane Moonfall, who worked with the Prince on public works stuff, and he said he was running errands with his wife and assistant. Lestat mentioned that sometimes late at night, the head of the royal bodyguards, Corion, would sometimes accompany the Prince to the office and wait outside a window. The party has heard that he was the last one seen with the prince. Lyrra looked around outside and found giant footprints near the window that the prince was murdered from, and older smaller footprints near the window that Lestat mentioned.
The party then went to the mech base, since the large footprints could very well belong to a mech and they totally weren't just going there for fun. When they arrived, they were introduced to Commander Evergreen (who they saw at the Green Retreat briefly), but they were distracted when they heard that one of the robots was named Solana. Non-robot Solana was confused, until she saw the pilot. Just as she was about to go talk to her dad for the first time in 10 years, the party all zooped back to the other world.
