42 Four Recruits: A Baddie Side Story

General Summary

Four new recruits walk up to the gates of Ulenor's castle: Butterfly Sparklebutt, No Name, Vivivivezcra Rose, and Dark "Dark Dark Dark..." Gray. They are welcomed into the castle by Fenrick, and then Owl takes them around for a tour. During the tour, they see the laboratory where Janet is cooking up some stalkers, and Butterfly drinks some Aether. On the second floor, Gray sneaks away from the group. Down in the yard, Owl begins to introduce some of the teachers: Anika, Hector, and other familiar ish names. But Gray is noted to be missing. Chaos ensues as Ulenor finds Gray and follows him, and settles on summoning a dragon to hunt down the intruder. The rest of the teachers are convinced to go upstairs with their new students to see what's going on. A fight ensues, in which the students defeat the dragon, and eventually a frustrated Ulenor wanders off back to his room after the recruits 'proved themselves'. Owl and Anika get some snacks with the group, and then everyone is taken through Ulenor's room, to the third floor. There they see the start of the amalgamation and Ulenor says there's going to be an initiation ritual, but it was all a lie. He and his huntmasters cast a spell and tear the souls out of the four students, throwing them into the amalgamation. He then complains that this batch of students sucked and it's better to just start over.
