Session 49
General Summary
Stopping in the New District, the Deep End picked up some warm weather gear. Rani popped into tell Coopa to "never change" as a bit of copper metal went flying across the shop. Preparing for travel, Moira went to get mooncakes from Moonlight Horizons. While waiting for Kaili to box some up, she found Cali. It seems the chaos-loving Valdove wants to have a bit of a chat. Behind her and tucked into one of the booths was a Bronze dragonborn with a hood over his head and a cheesy mustache on his snout. Disguising do not seem to be Nadeen's speciality.
All tucked into the booth, Cali mentioned that Varoona sent her hear in service of the domain of freedom. Cali isn't sure Widow understands the extent of the slavery situation in Caliban – this isn't a simple task. Nadeen revealed that there once was an auction house called the House of Jade. If it still exists, which he suspects it does, he doesn't quite know where it would be located. However, if you wanted to begin the arduous, yet honorable, process of ending slavery in Caliban, finding and potentially getting information on the auction house so that it can eventually be ended, is imperative. Supposedly, the Bronze dragon clan used to have a teleportation circle. After snooping around, he learned that it led to the House of Jade. He would guess that some of the other Dragon Clans may have similar teleportation circles... or there is also however the slaver, Porysis, found his way there. He must have sold his "wares" somewhere.
As much as Nadeen would like to be involved, he cannot risk it. Should he be caught, he could be used as blackmail against his mother. Given current allegations – his mother killing his father and that perhaps he's illegitimate - her position in this race balances on the edge of falling into disaster. Cali, on the other hand, is more than happy to offer her assistance as a servant of Varoona.
While traveling to the Old District, the Deep End spoke with Sage. Arriving in Two's spire, Widow inquired if he could learn the paternity blood test. Unless you specialize in divination, you probably cannot learn Two's blood magic... but if you have skills in alchemy, perhaps you can learn from Four. After taking blood from both, Two confirmed that Sage and Newt are half-siblings.
Sage seems shaken by the truth of her parentage. Despite realizing she is not a half-dragon, but a dragonborn with a tained bloodline, she is still determined to hunt down her father and kill him. Now, however, she seems to want to offer her father's head and herself to the Queen of Frozen Tears... an odd atonement for her perceived dishonor. Newt tried to change her mind – someitmes traditions can be backward thinking. Sage didn't seem convinced. She did shake with Newt – promising NOT to go visit this Ikaris fellow. She set off to the New District, but shortly came back when Newt asked her to travel with them to Kar's domain.
Moira attempted to scry on the old man attack again as they settled into camp after hiking for the evening. Unlike the last attempt, she felt the spell take hold... but she saw nothing. The sound of a ticking clock filled her mind and then a woman's voice, low and sultry: "Sleep." Moira managed to shake off the effect, her vision returning to her. She notified Rani of what occurred.
That night, as Rani laid down to sleep, a familiar voice, low and sultry, chastised her for having her friend attempt to pry where she shouldn't. And then the sound of a ticking clock as she was blunged into darkness, feeling cold and hallow. Her dreams pulled her down into a war zone amidst towering trees. Loud explosions echoed as men and women fell left and right, blood spewing from wounds and staining the ground deep crimson. Amidst the chaos of a battle, a tall, towering, and broad figure stood dressed in dark, almost completely black armor. When it turned to face you, there was nothing but a dark void behind the metal mask. The sensation of coldness amplified as you felt your soul being pulled towards the armored figure. Rani managed to shake off the pressure that dug into the back of her mind and she woke feeling cold, hallow... and with an insatiable hunger that didn't abate. And the bees... seem a bit sad.

While on watch, Newt heard an odd mix of a roar and a shriek from somewhere ahead.
Moira is determined to get Widow back for not forgiving her yet. Everyone will just get to have biscuits and gravy for breakfast forever. No other breakfast options.
While traveling through the lightly snow-covered mountains, Ghilani asked if Sage had ever been in a snowball fight. Back in Ah'Shal, they have a version called ash ball. A full-blown snowball fight then ensued, with Sage partaking. Ghilani and Newt concluded that snowball fights are a bit better than ashball fights... less rubble and razors and needles to be hit by. The needles are the worst.
Entering the blizzard, the cold weather began to dig underneath even the thick coats and other cold weather gear. Moira seemed to get the worst of it, not seeming to shake off the cold and the exhaustion it brought. Newt ended up shielded her and carrying her to attempt to help. Rani was grabbed by a giant owl that thought she might be an easy meal, but newt quickly caught up – after dropping Moira – and blew it apart with a single shotgun shell. Rani gracefully floated to the snowy ground.
On her watch, Rani watched an icy figure dance alongside the swirling winds and snow. Meanwhile, Ghilani managed to decipher another entry in Dysis' journal. After leaving Caliban, she traveled to Ragna's Coliseum and had weapons forged by Matron Seven.
After crossing a chasm, the Deep End arrived at the opening to a dark cavern. Icy walls twisted and turned. Draconic mutterings and the sound of claws began to echo as they progressed deeper... until they arrived at Kar'Haragja's lair.
Rani offered a token of her love to Kar - her necklace that keeps her connected to Ezra. Ghilani offered a gift from his staff of flowers. And Widow offered the symbol of his Beloved - his nipple piercing. As Rani and Widow both turned over their symbols of loved ones, they received a silver scale and one of Kar's icy scales in return.
The Deep End quickly began to progress back through the blizzard. Exhausted, Moira heard the faintest trace of a familiar voice in the back of her mind, a bit bitter and almost somber: "You're no good to me dead".
Exiting the blizzard, Ghilani received a response to his previous question... followed by a more worried and frantic message form Ismera asking if he was alright or if they had done something wrong. Usually Ghilani responds immediately! Ismera is happy to hear that Ghilani is fine. A blizzard, you say? Kar's, I presume?
Widow felt a wave of intense heat fall over him upon leaving the blizzard...
Returning to the Old District, Sage is still wrestling with her heritage and how she fits in to her Clan (if at all), but she seems more open to the group. She is still determined to set out on a hunt and provided Newt with some honesty: she plans to speak with Ikaris. She also offered to speak with her grandfather, Jahdiel the White. Perhaps he can provide a measure of protection from Tetsuya the Black. She also provided the group with some other information. She overheard her grandfather discussing something with the Queen of Frozen Tears... there's some "sketchiness" around Shenzi. Perhaps if you investigate her, Jahdiel would be more willing to stand between the party and his friend, Tetsuya.
Going with Sage, the Deep End traveled to the White Dragon Clan. As the moon glows, almost full, a Temple stands atop a mountain amidst the rolling fog...

"Mortals. Within these walls you are bound by my laws. What you sow... you shall reap ten-fold."When reasoning with the mad dragon failed, Rani grabbed Kar's massive head, attempting to force some sense back into his worn down mind. The great dragon then grabbed her in return. Then, Newt tried to pull the silver scale from Kar's hand. Rani was released so that Kar could grab at Newt in return. Moira was then blocked off from the cavern... but her excellent use of Dispel magic resulted in a perfectly Moira-shaped hole through which she was able to walk.
