The Spas at Orchidea

Besides St. Carmen's, the island of Carmenthia is most notable for its massive sprawl of hot springs located at the southern end of the main island. Integral to the knowledge-gathering and discovery process is refreshment and renewal of the mind... what better way to ensure a full-body and mind relaxing experience than a spa? How convenient that there's a massive stockpile of subterranean magma flows, providing natural heating for the vast pools of water. Pair the natural landscape with a couple of echantments and wards and you get the glorious Orchidea Spas!

About the Spas

The spas at Orchidea are one of the oldest features on the island. Much of the architecture is quite old, though restoration work has ensured it is safe and far from disrepair. New architecture has been built around and on top of the old. Thus, it is not uncommon to see a patchwork of older buildings sporting chipped paint next to newer, taller, and more ornate buildings decorated in untarnished vibrant colors traditional to the island. Every large expanse of wall has been covered in scenes depicting waterfalls, local flora, and various water sprites.
Although the Spas are a premier source of income for the island and a hotbed of tourist activity, they are still – first and foremost – a place for the scholars of Carmenthis to rest and renew their weary minds so they may continue their pursuit of small and great problems alike. St. Carmen's keeps a wing of the Spa reserved specifically for students and faculty. Other parts of the spa have been set aside as small relaxing study spaces outfitted with a mix of desks, plush couches, and tables. Many of the private and group paths have been equipped with floating desks waterproofed supplies or waterproofing spells for materials are available upon request. Befitting the Goddess of the island, there is also a well-equipped small library! The spa contains anything and everything someone struck with sudden inspiration could possibly need!
Despite being primarily a tourist attraction, it is not uncommon to find individuals local to the island. Water genasi, tortles, and Yuan Ti that have been born and raised in Carmen'Két or one of the smaller villages tend to frequent the larger, public baths.

Products & Services

The Spas at Orchidea offer a vast variety of services. The most popular being their selection of baths:

1. Public Baths (free) – There are three massive pools of water that are free to use to the general public. A "cool" pool is located at the very edge of the lava flats overlooking the ocean. The other two pools - one hot and one very hot - are located more centrally over the highest areas of magma activity.
2. Semi-Private Baths (1 gold/day) – These baths are in enclosed or semi-enclosed spaces and the Spa staff permit only a limited number of individuals entry. Baths of this kind are offered in a variety of temperatures with a limited selection of daily scents or salt/herb additions. 1 gold per day to access.
3. Private Baths (2 gold/hour) – Individual or small group baths that are semi-enclosed or fully enclosed. All temperature options are available (unless all are rented) with a small selection of free scent, salt, or herb additions. Additional modifications can be purchased at 5 silver an hour.

For students and faculty at St. Carmen's – or individuals with a bit more coin to spare, additional bath services can be purchased. These services require an individual to spend at least 1 hour soaking in the water and are added on top of the purchase of a private bath.

1. Bless – 50 gold (+10 per additional person) – Individuals gain the effect of the bless spell for 4 hours.
2. Gift of Alacrity – 20 gold (+5 per additional person) – Individuals gain the effect of the Gift of Alacrity spell for 8 hours.
3. Heroism – 50 gold (+10 per additional person) – Individuals gain the effect of the heroism spell for 1 hour.
4. Aid – 150 gold (+50 per additional person) – Individuals gain the effect of a 5th-level aid spell.
5. Borrowed Knowledge – 100 gold (+30 per additional person) – Individuals gain proficiency in a skill (or expertise) of their choosing for 2 hours.
6. Enhance Ability (Wis or Int) – 100 gold (+30 per additional person) – Individuals gain the associated effect for 2 hours.
7. Lesser Restoration – 50 gold (+10 per additional person) – Individuals gain the associated effect.
