The Deep End justified stealing of academic property and succeeds in doing so. Rani speaks a language that stuns Newt and Ghilani. After sending lanterns, the Deep End arrives in Ah'Shal, meeting Dr. Underbrink and getting some Ah'Shazza.

After speaking with Oksha and trying to make fends with Lady Crossbones, the group splits. The children get into all kinds of trouble before Oksha goes down a chute. Newt agrees to not go and then changes his mind. Cyrus' frustration reaches new levels.
