Dim Tears (TEE-Ears)

Not to be confused with Dim Tears (t-AIRS), the portals into the Dim

Dim Tears are cloudy, off-white, stalactite-like crystals that form at the convergence points between the Dim and normal space. Chemical analysis has shown that they are made, in part, of the materials found in the location of the portal, melded with foreign matter that is assumed to come from within the Dim. The crystals are relatively soft, able to be worked into new shapes with minimal risk of shattering.
Tears have had cosmetic and ceremonial significance for millennia, but they also possess unusual metaphysical properties as well. When bombarded with high-intensity lasers, the tears are able to generate a Dim portal - an effect that Dim Walkers, Veil Guardians, and others in-the-know have found various uses for. Controlling the duration and entry/exit points within each world is another matter entirely.
