The Ultra Magi is the Civil Concordance's AI ruler, a stunningly advanced sentient computer that guides and governs the alliance of worlds. The Magi is the writer of laws, arbiter of disputes, planner of strategies, and final authority on the past, present, and future of the Concordance. The Magi represents the known ultimate evolution of a Precursor AI, an Automata mind of massive scale and power. The CPU is self-maintaining, self-improving, and powered by a near-inexhaustible supply of dark matter culled from the adjacent Deep. The Magi's massive physical form is housed in the Arx, a Concordance citadel that straddles the tidal zone between normal and fluidic space. This allows the CPU to draw upon the unique quantum properties of dark matter and energy to function at such high levels. The Ultra Magi typically appears as a massive holographic face, the features generically anthropoid to appeal to the wider range of races within the Concordance; however, it shifts to more specific forms depending upon the audience. To its inner circle, the Magi manifests as a holographic fractal, pulsing with each syllable of its booming synthesized speech.
