The Aesir Gods

Aesir are otherworldly beings that mystify even the most knowledgeable sages in all the lands. They are worshipped by many across the realms. It is unknown how they came to be, but each of the greater Aesir is associated with a realm, and with multiple major aspects.   It is believed that worship empowers the Aesir, and as belief or trust in them fades, so do their powers. Records exist of ancient Aesir unlike the ones known to us today. It is not known how Aesir come to be or come to their ends. Great tales and myths attempt to explain these shifts in the pantheon, and the mysterious whims of the Aesir, yet their accuracy is fiercely debated by historians and the Aesir's fiathful.   What they can agree on, however, is that Aesir are occasionally known to walk the realms amongst us mortals. How they came to be, and what motivates them continues to be debated in halls of knowledge all across the realms.   It is believed that there also exist lesser Aesir. Many debate their origins and abilities. Some believe them to be the the progeny of a greater Aesir and a mortal. Others believe all Aesir started out as lesser Aesir and gained in power as their worship grew. And yet others believe these lesser Aesir to have once been greater Aesir whom have lost their worshippers, and as a result, their power.   Depictions of Aesir vary wildly across the realms, they are believed to possess the power to shapeshift their appearance to match that of the lands they travel, so Dwarves depict Ragnor as Dwarvish, and Elves depict Veridian as Elvish, for instance. Some cultures also focus on specific aspects of the deities, or attribute other additional aspects to them. Dwarves, for instance, focus heavily on Solaris' Creation aspect, and he is often called "The Master Forgesmith" in those lands.   Certain relationships are commonly attributed to the gods. It is unknown if all of them hold truth, but these terms are often used when describing the Aesir gods.   "The Brothers" - Sun and Storms
  • Their relationship rivals only that of Solaris and Ragnor... best to never have them in the same room.
"The Sisters" - Moon and Luck
  • They get along like Celestria and Fortuna, they're the closest of friends.
"The Twins" - Life and Death
  • They're like Veridian and Thanatos, alike on the surface, but could not be more different to their core.
"The Doomed Lovers" - Sun and Moon
  • They're like Solaris and Celestria, like fire and water... opposites attract, but they can never stay together.
"The True Lovers" - Luck and Life
  • All life needs a bit of luck to succeed, just like Veridian needs Fortuna.
  "The Outsider" - Magic
  • May Aethereos understand what he's been up to... because no-one else does.
