Ivory Crow

The Ivory Crow is the largest criminal organisation in Vehasi, with business ranging from theft to assassination. Every member of the Ivory Crow is known as a Crow, and keeps a necklace with a bleached white bird talon in their possession. The group works in chapters, each headed by a boss, managed by an underboss, and consisting mainly of "soldiers", who can have various more specific duties such as enforcing, acquisitions, or hits. Generally, in order to get into a chapter of the Ivory Crow, you need to personally know someone in that chapter who can vouch for you. Members of the Ivory Crow do not state that they are a part of their organisation to anyone who they have not personally been introduced to by another Crow, as a Crow. The bosses of chapters know the identity of two other bosses, one who is their boss, and one who is under their command (not as an underboss or member of their chapter, but as the head of an adjacent chapter). Bosses also do not interact directly with their soldiers - that is the job of the underboss. If a boss dies or is imprisoned, their underboss takes over their chapter and selects a new underboss. However, if the soldiers in a chapter do not take well to their new boss, mutinies are relatively common - though the result of such mutinies is typically the dissolving of that chapter. Because of this, there are multiple sections of the Ivory Crow, also known as "chains", that operate independently of the organisation as a whole, under the same name. Sometimes, these chains end up being absorbed back into the chain of command, if they become large enough, but most fizzle out over time, or become a separate organisation entirely.
