Mechanics & Inner Workings

Straight swords are designed to thrust and hack. This type was widely used, especially by the Natiawas, Teshua, and Vashala.   Sickle swords are meant to slash and cut an enemy's flesh. The Azimun civilizations, Kalu, Mesitu, and Nupari, long favored a curved sword, but have transitioned to straight swords in recent centuries due to improved efficacy against light armor and their increased potential length.

Significance

There is a great cultural significance attached to swords throughout the known world. Nobles are the ones who carry swords, making the weapon a symbol of status and power. Even though swords are not the common weapon and most effective as a secondary weapon, they are regardless highly prized.
Rarity
There are many thousands of swords in the world, owned by each fighting man who is a member of the nobility. A rare few outside the wealthy possess swords, and these were usually looted from corpses on the battlefield. The common people usually would never dream of owning a sword and clamor for the opportunity to bring one home as a spoil of war.

Raw materials & Components
Bronze, of course, is needed for the blade, the internal part of the hilt (at least on many models), and the tangs holding other materials of the hilt onto the rest of the sword. Wood and leather are the usual materials used to construct a hilt, but more elaborate swords call for gold, silver, and gemstones.
Tools
A forge is required, either one with or without a flame. A stone mold is needed to cast the bronze into the desired shape. Then, one requires a whetstone of some sort to sharpen the blade and a polishing material, such as animal fat. To create the handles, one needs a tool to cut wood and file to shape the handle once attached. A hammer hits the tangs into place.
