Xean Elephant

Xean's economy was very dependant on tourism and elephants served as a very effective tourist attraction. They weren't extremely usefull when it comes to work, but acted as a national symbol and an attraction.
Xean elephants mostly used as greeters to tourists, helpers for travellers and somewhat as a long distance ushers who'd accompany tourist groups to the places they'd go to. They'd also helped older people, carry loads of materials. Among their most usefull works was carrying Nyth trees for long distances and especially carrying raw arequesa on their trunks. They were very delicate and diligent when it comes to doing a task.
Elephants who worked as a civic servants would have a piece of cloth, wrapped around their legs. The colour indicated their specific jobs and shape would indicate what city they were linked with. They would be allowed to move from one place to another and also would be allowed to retire.
Outside of civic work, an indiviual or a family could also hire their services as travelling companions, personal aide...
They were allowed to leave Xean(If they get a passport), accompanied with human, protean or half-blood companions and only for limited durations of time.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They were between 2000-5500 kg average and about 5 to 7 feet tall. They were vaguely thinner than Afrikan forest elephants but stronger than African savannah elephants.

Genetics and Reproduction

They have 15 months pregnancy period. 
They are very shy when it comes to copulation. They'd take a vacation like time of, a week or two, to go into a solitude place, romance each other and copulate. Once they are sure the female is pregnant, they'd return. 
Pregnant females would be exempt from work for the last 7 months of their pregnation period and would be given less physical tasks through.

Growth Rate & Stages

Puberty begins at 10 ends at 15. Complete emotional growth at age 25. Complete physical growth in 30. They'd live as long as 200 years.

Ecology and Habitats

They are extremely adaptive through, but prefer mild climates with high humidity. But can survive extreme heat and cold.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are vegetarian. Can eat bamboo, leaves, grass and moss. Especially love stone fruits, apples and nuts.

Biological Cycle

After they complete their physical growth, they start to grow tusks(half meter at max, non pointy). Once in every 5-7-9-13 years, their tusks starts to get loose and fall with minimum amount of pain like baby teeth and a new one would start to grow.

Social Structure

They'd be coupled, but lived as heards. They'd choose their leader/representative via voting(Raise their trunks.). Once the leaders tusks was fallen, they'd choose a new one.

Domestication

They'd be considered as part of the society. They would find it very offensive if one were to treat them as pets or lesser creatures. They also disliked first age Magalians who tried to ride them like mount animals. Yet they'd like to be patted and chill with someone.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Their tusks had some mild alchemical capabilities. It had medical applications regarding ones hearing and middle ear.

Facial characteristics

Their skin could be obsidian green, darkish grey, light grey or light brown.
Ones living in north would have lighter tones. South, darker tones.

They had very advanced hearing capabilities.  So much that, they could hear someones belly gurgling or niceties in someones speak.

They didn't develop beauty ideals, but they'd mostly go for a mate with different colour scheme than they do.

They can be gay or bisexual and could adopt a cub.

Courtship Ideals

Xean elephant romances were legendary. They are known for their loyalty to their mates. But strangely, they'd also sometimes prefer to spend time away from each other, be it for travel, making their cubs gain experience about Xean or for work...

Common Etiquette Rules

They are known to remain extremely calm in even the most stresfull situations. They also act very humble.

History

They were discovered at the 3. century of first era, but believed that, they discovered the other species first. They started to live closer and closer to settlements and wouldn't be afraid or be hostile to humans, half-bloods or proteans who approach to feed or pat them. Local Jindalchemists(Who can communicate with anyone) started to communicate with them, they started to realize how smart and unexpectedly creative they are, the Xean government passed a law, which forbids to hunt them or hurt them.
As time passed, locals realised that they attract tourists from other countries(At that time mostly Magalians), Xean government passed the Law of Equilibrium, which allowed willing elephants to be citizens and civic workers. Xean law demanded self-help for its citizens and law of Equilibrium included many elephants to it. They started to build habitats which the elephants can use as their place of sleep and started to sow gardens which was specifically to fed elephants(Yet they're known to share their food). After this, they started to educate some elephants to become teachers whom would educate its fellow elephants about the rules of cities(Like no public urination or defecation, no loud noises in some hours, not eating unallowed crops...)
Once the elephants became oriented and fully adapted, Xean government and public was so proud with them, they added Xean elephant to their flags and declared it to be its national animal.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

They viewed humans like their family. But proteans and half-bloods can intimidate them, yet because of their ability to communicate and help them they can build deeper relations with the latter species. Sometimes they hear Stellarchs voice in their head and some believes that they are effected by great calm more than other species.
