    Backstory

Razor was born in the slums of an enormous hive city with a population in the billions. While the city’s nobility feasted and reveled at the top, the people in the slums fought a desperate struggle for survival each and every day.   Razor was born in the middle of this struggle and was soon molded by it. Razor didn’t know their parents well – a few years after Razor’s birth, they both perished, caught in the middle of a battle between rival gangs. Razor found themselves an orphan in perhaps one of the most unforgiving places in the galaxy.   And yet, Razor survived. They stole from others and fought with other children and teenagers for scrap and a quiet place to sleep and hide. It seemed that they were always a step ahead of their foes during those fights – they dodged hits that would have laid low anybody else, and their reaction time was unparalleled.   In reality, this wasn’t just a natural thing. Razor possessed biokinetic powers, being able to cause their body to respond to every command in exactly the way Razor wanted. What was more, this psychic ability also made them stronger and faster.   Thanks to all this, Razor not only survived but thrived – at least in hive city slum terms. By the time Razor was fifteen, they had formed a small yet potent gang of other teenagers. Razor used this gang like a bludgeon, threatening others to get what the gang – and Razor, mostly – needed. They began to offer up their services to the higher bidders, acting as front-line troops and thieves for the other, bigger and more established gangs of the slums.   As the years passed, Razor began to usurp those other clans. By the time they were twenty-five, they were one of the key players of the slums. And they had bigger plans too. There was an entire city above them, full of people – rich people. They had never seen gang warfare up there, and perhaps it was time for Razor to show them.   But it was not to be. The city’s authorities cared little for the slums, that much was true. But they certainly did care when the city residents were threatened. Upon learning about Razor’s plans through their informants, the city’s enforcers attacked the slums in force. The battle that followed was long, lasting almost a month. In the end though, Razor was apprehended after dealing considerable damage to the enforcers.   For the plot to attack the city, Razor originally was supposed to be executed in a public display. Yet soon after this was announced, the authorities made it known that Razor had died in their cell.   In reality, Razor was very much alive. Their psychic abilities had been discovered after an examination, and Razor had been sent to the nearest government facility to be trained. They had little choice but to obey, of course – disobedience meant death. And so, for a few years, Razor trained. Yet they never forgot their hatred for the government that had mistreated them – they would fight, and do what they were told, but only until they had a way out.
