The Stars and the Sea

Many ages ago, when the universe was sung into existence by the great chorus, there existed beings before the gods. These beings were known as Primordials, and they revelled in the chaos of the Planescape of that time, as it kept out the Aboleths that were older. However, when the gods came and destroyed the Aboleths, the Primordials grew afraid, for the gods came to bring order to the Planescape the Primordials had lived in chaos. A war broke out, and the gods won, with many of the Primordials perishing, their children living on to inhabit the Elemental planes. That is, all but a few.
The Stars and the Sea
Two of these remaining Primordials fled the war, entering into one of the realms of the gods, a realm itself of chaos and emotion known as the Feywild to many. These two entered, one taking to the seas and residing in its depths, the other claiming dominion of the stars in the sky. Eventually, they met, when the sun had gone to rest and out on the horizon where land was nowhere to be found.

They established an alliance that day, becoming partners in chaos of the elements. They were then forever known as the Lord of Stars, the primordial of the night sky, and the Lady of Sea, the primordial of the ocean depths. However, the Lady of the Sea tired of being kept at bay by the gods and her realm spotted with land. So she sought to summon the droves of the eternal depths and cover all the realm with her waters. But then she disappeared. The Lord of Stars, seeing his lady had gone and could not be found, pledged an oath to find her again, searching across the plains to get even an inkling of where she went.

He did not know, however, that the Lady of the Sea had been banished from the Feywild by the Aboleths that still lived in the Eternal Depths for stealing from their domain. When they brought her to their plane, preparing to end her existence, the gods took pity on her. They removed her from the depths, but knowing her plans and deeming she needed to be punished, banished her to the Prime Material Plane. She was locked into a humanoid form and dropped into the depths of the seas, the more mundane version of her former realm. For centuries she stayed here, unable to return to her true form or take another form, before deciding to leave her prison in the darkest trenches and depths and enter the upper realms.

Upon interacting with the beings of the upper realms, they took mercy on her, giving her gifts of clothing and food. In return, she gave those who showed her favor great power over the ocean depths, able to summon its force from anywhere in the Planescape, wherever an ocean existed. Here she was given the name Gwaldwynr, Water-Giver, as she was particularly favored by the dragons and draconic creatures of the sea. However, those of the elves knew her still as Heri-aer, and they still respected and feared her under that title. Towards them, especially those of the Feywild where she held domain, she gave extra favor to.

Now, to those who know of her, she is described as a lady in robes of blue, wearing a veil of turquoise that covers her face. She always wears this, and it is said that when it is lifted, all who her gaze falls upon petrify, their bodies becoming like that of the faded corpses of coral. Very few have seen her true form, or her current humanoid form, and even fewer are alive to remember. Yet, those who still remember do not describe it, or cannot. The only recognizable feature of her form is the two, cyan eyes, the glow of which pierces even the turquoise veil, the sole light in a face shrouded in shade.
