Tortle

Tortles are large tortoise-like humanoids that originate from Nokawa. Tortles traditionally live in coastal areas, preferring a more peaceful life compared to the other species of Nokawa. Historically tortles were fishers and farmers, which led to them being under the rule of first the Hobgoblins and now the gith. Most tortles are easy going, and their communities were happy to work with whoever demanded fealty, as long as it ensured peace.
Today, tortles are found throughout Nokawa, though most do not travel beyond their homeland. Their large frame and tendency towards physical strength has led the Nokawan army to repeatedly attempt to recruit tortles in their ranks, and, while some accept, the majority are content to continue farming, fishing and other manual labour.
