Yuan-ti

Yuan-ti are snake-like humanoids that originate from Bhannachat. Yuan-ti are the ruling class in their nation, in large part due to an inherent affinity towards arcane arts. The most powerful Yuan-ti used their abilities to conquer Bhannachat, enslaving the other species and using them to build their nation. They established the Jadhra Academy, a mage academy that quickly entrenched itself as one of, if not the best of Dunyalem's arcane schools. At first open only to yuan-ti, the teachings in the academy allowed the yuan-ti to keep surpassing their neighbours, further cementing their rule.
As part of the agreement in joining the Jade Republic, the ruling yuan-ti were forced to both end all practice of slavery across Bhannachat and open the doors to the Academy to other species and nations. Today, most yuan-ti regard their history with shame and work to improve their image. Some however are jealous of the superiority they once had and relish a return to the old ways.
