Having followed his brother Xoorr⁣ from the Elemental Chaos, Apdos continued to follow him; gathering the souls of the dying, passing judegemnt, and sending them onward (each race and god has at least one version of the afterlife). In The First War, the greed of Apdos drove conflict as he pursued souls not yet ready to leave the world and harvested them for himself. He is depicted wearing chains and weights that serve as an eternal reminder of his duty: Apdos no longer sits in judgement of the dead, but ferries them to their rightful place of rest.
