Farspeak Nodes

The Farspeak nodes are a collection of artefacts controlled by the Teriman Dynasty. They allow near instant communication visual and audible across huge, but not unlimited, distances, once per day for up to ten minutes. This rapid and secure conversation between political figures is of huge importance to the stability of the Teriman Dynasty

Social Impact

The primary purpose of Farspeak clusters is to call for aid in response to disasters. However, they are naturally used for political discourse.
Access & Availability
Farspeak nodes are granted and maintain by the Teriman Dynasty, specifically by advisors adept in magic and enchanted artefacts. They evaluate for suitable locations to maintain a Farspeak cluster. These clusters are distributed to maximise geographic extent and political coverage, within the limited supply of Farspeak nodes available.   By the benevolence of the Crowns of Terima for generations, these clusters are not exclusively inside the Teriman Realm. Naturally as official allies, dwarven holds are often included in clusters, but some powers on the periphery of the Realm are offered access to a cluster as "a gesture of goodwill, and an acknowledgement of the external threats faced by all the peoples of Durath." (- Crown Tristayn II)   For example, the Virdendran cluster includes nodes in the Elven city of Strale, the free port of Tarrin, and the Dragonborn of The Cloistered Vale.
Complexity
The underlying magic has not been fully explained, and perhaps even not fully understood. Most who have heard of the Farspeak nodes know of two functionalities; a direct link to one other node within the cluster, or an open link to all nodes within a cluster.
Discovery
A large cache of Farspeak nodes was uncovered by sanctioned Teriman Dynasty archaeologists. The exact location of the find was never revealed, although popular rumour suggests it was among the ruins of a Praetorians-era settlement.
